TLS Certificate Toolkit v1.9

Inspect, verify, and convert TLS certificates for SIP Trunk Groups (for example CCDI, pBYOC, cBYOC, Ext2Ext) — runs entirely in your browser, nothing is uploaded anywhere. Based on the OpenSSL tips in the internal TLS Info wiki page.

Equivalent to: openssl x509 -in "certificate" -noout -text
Equivalent to: openssl x509 -inform DER -in "certificate" -out certificate.crt (or the reverse: openssl x509 -outform DER -in certificate.pem -out certificate.der)
Equivalent to: openssl verify -untrusted "intermediateCA.crt" "certificate.crt" "RootCA.crt"

Already have a full-chain bundle? (a single file with multiple certificates already concatenated, e.g. sip_fullchain.pem)

— or provide certificates individually —

1. Device / Leaf certificate (optional — leave empty to just check that an intermediate chains up to a root)

2. Intermediate CA certificate(s) (optional — add as many as needed, in order)

3. Root CA certificate

Equivalent to: cat device.crt intermediate.crt root.crt > sip_fullchain.pem

Add certificates in order, most specific first: Device/Leaf → Intermediate(s) → Root. Any DER files you add are converted to PEM automatically before bundling.

Equivalent to: diff <(openssl x509 -in certA.crt -noout -text) <(openssl x509 -in certB.crt -noout -text)

Useful for checking whether a renewed certificate reused the same key pair, whether two files are actually the same certificate, or spotting what changed between two versions.

About

A self-contained, offline TLS/X.509 certificate tool for SIP Trunk Group work (CCDI, pBYOC, cBYOC, Ext2Ext, etc.). Built from the OpenSSL tips in the internal TLS Info wiki page — everything here mirrors an equivalent openssl command, but with plain-English output. Runs entirely in your browser; no certificate data is ever uploaded anywhere.

Current features

  • Inspect — decode and display a certificate's fields (version, serial number, issuer, subject, validity, RSA key details, X509v3 extensions). Accepts any file type/extension, not just .pem/.crt/.der.
  • Convert — auto-detects PEM vs. DER and converts to the other format, with a direct download.
  • Verify Chain — checks a device/leaf, intermediate(s), and root using real RSA signature verification (not just name matching), with plain-English failure reasons. The device/leaf certificate is optional, so you can check that an intermediate alone chains up to a root. Also accepts a pre-built full-chain bundle (multiple certificates in one file) and automatically figures out each certificate's role. Results can be downloaded as a text report.
  • Build Full Chain — bundles device + intermediate(s) + root into a single sip_fullchain.pem, in the correct order, ready to download.
  • Compare — compares two certificates field by field (fingerprint, subject, issuer, serial, validity, key info, SANs, extensions), flags matches vs. differences, and calls out whether they're identical files or just share the same key pair (e.g. a renewal). Results can be downloaded as a text report.

Version history

v1.9 (current)
  • Added this Info tab — a list of current features plus the full version history, updated with every release going forward.
v1.8
  • Wiki reference in the footer is now a clickable link that opens the internal TLS Info page in a new tab.
v1.7
  • Footer wording generalized from CCDI/pBYOC to SIP Trunk Groups, matching the header.
  • Verify Chain: added a "Download verification report" button (plain-text report of composition, pass/fail, and line-by-line details).
v1.6
  • Replaced hardcoded "CCDI / pBYOC" wording in the title and subtitle with generic "SIP Trunk Groups (for example CCDI, pBYOC, cBYOC, Ext2Ext)".
v1.5
  • Verify Chain: added support for verifying a pre-built full-chain bundle (a single file with multiple concatenated certificates) — automatically detects each certificate's role (leaf/intermediate/root) using its CA:TRUE/FALSE flag and orders them correctly regardless of file order, flagging unrelated certs or incomplete chains.
v1.4
  • Compare: added a "Download compare report" button (plain-text report of the full field-by-field comparison).
v1.3
  • Added the Compare tab — side-by-side certificate comparison with match/differs badges and an overall verdict (identical file, same key/different cert, or different keys).
  • Verify Chain: the device/leaf certificate is now optional, so you can verify that an intermediate alone chains up to a root.
v1.2
  • First versioned release: Inspect, Convert (PEM ⇄ DER), Verify Chain, and Build Full Chain tabs.
  • File picker accepts any file type/extension, not just .pem/.crt/.der.
  • RingCentral brand styling applied (warm gradient header, Inter Tight typography, orange accents).
  • Packaged as a single downloadable HTML file — double-click to open locally in any browser, no install needed.
